How much of your life would you be willing to give up to pursue your dreams as a full time successful musician with yourself or a band? Im talking about giving up your jobs, family, girlfriend/boyfriend, etc. Would you do it?
#3
Giving things up is generally irrational. For example, you said giving up a job; having a job means you get money. Getting money means it can be put towards your gear and recording and stuff.
#5
It absolutely depends on what the odds looked like. If for some bizarre reason there was a really good chance I'd be able to 'pull it off,' I'd definitely break up with my girlfriend if for some reason that was necessary. I'm currently unemployed, so that wouldn't be a problem

I wouldn't 'cos I'm not in a band and though I've been playing for 4 years, I don't think I'm that good.. and don't have a big enough catalogue of music to tour with or whatever..
"You're a twat!"- That dude in morrisons

"You Ugly git!" - That girl in the restaurant

"You Were a Mistake!" - Mum

just a few of my fans..

I'd give up my job to "make it big." I'm suspended from my job anyways.
May the Schwartz be with us! 2012

Q: OK, so do you care about the labels — nastiest, edgiest team in the NFL?

Jim Schwartz: It's better than the alternative — meekest, least aggressive, softest team in the NFL.

I was thinking yesterday what I would do if somebody held a knife to me and demanded my guitar.

I think I'd at least consider getting stabbed.
The UG Awards exist only to instill me with existential doubt.

For me, the 60's ended that day in 1978...

Music for me is a hobby.

This

I wouldn't give up anything for a career as a professional musician, granted that'd be cool, but I wouldn't sell my soul to the devil or anything.

if im able to make enough money with a band i would give up my job, would see my family between tours, would (like to) have a girlfriend thats in the band or tours with me or something. But i would give up pretty much but it really depends on what it is and how much it means to me.

EDIT: music is a hobby for me atm but my dream/goal is to get a succesfull proffessional band. sounds kinda sad but thats how i feel about it

Just to tour and record professionally with bands that influenced me like In Flames and Arch Enemy, I would give up anything, honestly. A job, some friends, family members. (I would just give up the ones I no longer associate with, of course).

The past year or so, seeing all the band dvds like TBDM's Majesty have made me really want to get out with my band and tour. It seems so fun, and getting to see new places is always good.

There are things I wouldn't do, like quit my degree, but I'd give up a lot if I really knew I could make it.

Nothing. I have no idea why someone would live in a rat infested one room apartment just to play music more often than they normally would.
