I am going to be building my very first guitar soon, but i wanted to test out one of the many build your guitar kits. I was just wondering if anyone here has built one and what they are like. I was looking at Samba kits but some had mixed reviews. any input would be great

yes, we have. please use the search bar to get reviews from old threads. We get these threads all the time.

Typically on guitar kits, the electronics will always be bad. This is because factories realize that the guts will be the first thing to go anyway. The same is true (to a lesser extent) for the hardware.

Look for quality wood and decent hardware.

That's about all I can help you with. You can use the search link and find some kit builds in this thread. There are alot. CorduroyEW bought a kit (i forget the brand) and made a thread as a 'quality report'.

i love how a search bar reply is always the first response. if i didnt see anything that spiked my interest i would not have made this new post.

The point isnt to 'spike your interest', the point is to see what kits they are using and determining if they are good or bad, or fit your needs.

You want help? You're going to have to do some of the work.

Really? It sounds more like you're just being lazy.

And your logic is inside out.
If you DID see something that interested you though search, you would have posted in the existing thread, rather than making your own.
If you DIDN'T see something that interested you through search, you WOULD have made this thread. Perhaps you were trying to say that, idk.

I did a quick search of the forums under the search "kit build". I found some threads, some builds completed, some not. PM the starter of each thread, asking about the kit. Don't bump the threads, as you will be flamed, and perhaps banned, depending on the age of the threads and how many you bump. This is just to get you started. There are many people who have done kit builds, and these are just from the first 3 pages of results.

Here they are:

Done.

Try to do a bit of research on your own then describe what you already know in your Original Post along with your specific question(s) when making a thread. A little bit of work getting a thread off to a good start will yield good replies.

this man (as usual) speaks truth.

yea, when you get "use the searchbar" responses, it's generally not because they want you to do everything yourself but rather, get your own start so that we may help you along the way.

and btw, welcome to the forum!

sir, i would like to inform you that you are now my favorite UGer. Not only did you use the word y'all, which is native to my homeland, but you correctly punctuated it using the apostrophe.
