Ok im a beginner guitarist, and i have just a few questions on Amps and Amp heads

1. Whats the difference?
2. Can an Amp head function as an amp without the actual Amp?
3. how do they effect the Amp their hooked up too?

Sounds Novice but I just started, and i live in the mountains...no one up here really knows much on guitar

To answer your questions:

1, An head, is something you stack on a cab. Usually meant for gigs and shows. A combo, is the smaller version of that amp, but portable and more convienant. But it can also be gigged.
2. No a head cannot function without a cab.
3. Not sure what you mean....?

You need speakers to get sound. A head is just an amplifier, without speakers. A combo amp has an amplifier and speakers, a cab is just speakers. You need to stack a head on a cab to get sound
