Hey all,

Just a quick question regarding Epiphone serial numbers...

Ive just found a whole heap on eBay, that according to the serial were made last month, with a factory code of 'LU'. I've done a heap of research and can't find anything about Epiphone using a factory with this code.

Everything seems to check out - logos, knobs, pickguard screw, tuner placement etc. except the serial.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Ive done that, but it comes back as saying that the factory code isnt in the database. Ive also looked around for hours and cant find anything about Epiphone using an 'LU' code for any of their factories.

Just wanting to know if anybody here has an Epi LP with an LU factory code in the serial.

Oh, and if it helps anybody... The whole serial is LU09070011.

Cheers.

No, it's a fake.

I knew that within 3 seconds of the site opening.

yep fake, the 1st give away is the plastic on the pups..

i`ve had a look at the rest of the guitars on that site and they`re all fake, the jem77fp is completely wrong...

I have to agree with Mr Seagull as soon as I opened the web page and then the first pic I knew it was sketchy but the LU in the serial number was the other problem. Epis with the exception of some made in Korea are all made in Gibsons Epi plant in China unless it's an older Epiphone made before they opened the new all Epi plant.

Also you never see legit guitars being advertised alongside Louis Vitton bags

i like how as soon as i opened the page i got an advert for a "china wholesale electric guitars!" website (tradetang.com - known for its fakes!)

that in itself should be an indication that the guitar is not legit.

also, the fact that the most recent epiphone i've seen with those tuners was made in 1993.
I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.

Cheers guys.

Guess I'm going down to the local shop and spending the extra money. Oh well, atleast it will be legit.

Bloody good fake though.

I've already reported these guitars to ebay as counterfeits and am in the process of notifying Epiphone/Gibson.
