So Pit, my birthday is on Tuesday, and I need a new phone. I have Verizon and I was looking at either the Alias 2 or the enV touch. Other suggestions are welcome.

Oh and best answer wins an entire batch of e-cookies.

EnV3

No annoying, unresponsive touchscreen! =]

I have the touch and the screen is pretty responsive.

Plus you can just open it up if you have problems with using the screen. Then its basically the same as the enV 3, but with the option of using the touch screen.

I've been researching phones for a week or so because I'm getting my own plan and phone on Tuesday, and I'm going with the enV Touch. It really is the best "dumb phone" you can get.

However I will say that if data plans were a bit cheaper, I would love to go Sprint and get a Palm Pre. As it is though, there just isn't enough of a difference between it and the Touch to justify the higher monthly plan. With Verizon I'll be doing the messaging plan, which is $35 a month for unlimited text and browsing and $0.40 a minute for talking. I try to talk on the phone as little as possible as it is, so I'm planning on an extra $10 bringing it up to $45 a month.

So yeah, Verizon + enV Touch is perfect for me. The Touch has waaaaaaaaay more features than the Alias, they really aren't even in the same class.

The only touchscreen that is not fail, is the one that the Iphone has.

TS will hate touchscreen on the EnV after the first month or two. Guaranteed.

I went for the first purely 'cos it sounded better.

Tempted to agree. I own an LG Dare, and while I don't dislike, the novelty of the touchscreen wore off very fast. I would prefer having actual buttons now. That's just my perspective, from someone who texts all the time. I still vastly prefer buttons over touch.

I'd say Alias 2 or EnV 3

Palm Pre's touch screen is at least equal. Plus it has a physical keyboard.

Just got the Alias 2. Best phone I've ever owned.

Get a pre-paid phone, so if you make prank phone calls, no one can trace it.

Yeah i would agree with that. And i think the HTC phones have a good touch screen as well.

But besides those, all the samsung/LG/Motorola etc. Touch screens suck monkey balls
