Would i be able to run my Pod x3 live into a power amp and then into a cabinet?

The pod x3 basicly is a preamp right?

Hmm, i kind of want a rig that doesnt depend on a PA system to function

If youre ging live then most of the time youll need a PA system to get a better sound, unless youve powerfull enough speakers but then agin its always easier to go through a PA

You're forgetting smaller places might not have a decent PA, and you'll still want to be heard. Nothing wrong in wanting a power amp.

is the rocktron velocity 100 a good power amp?

Not really, its budget budget. It won't have enough power for live use without clipping or harsh sound.

Look into the Carvin TS100 instead.
