Sorry if this has been done before, but the search bar had nothing to say on the topic, so...

What do you think is the most out of place line in the lyrics of any song you know?

For me, it would be "To be a rock and not roll" in Stairway to heaven.

It sounds awesome and all, but unless I'm really missing something, it's totally random.

"Kielbasa sausage, your butt cheeks is warm."

From the Tenacious D song "Kielbasa"

Not only is it grammatically incorrect, it doesnt make sense

The whole part goes...

I love ya baby but all I can think about is
Kielbasa sausage, your butt cheeks is warm.
I check my dipstick, you need lubrication honey,
My kielbasa sausage has just got to perform.
Now get it on!

Not really.

The song is about a lady who is ruled by money. It rules her life such that she is essentially buying her own stairway to heaven. She is given the chance to change, but she doesn't. What's more, is that she (in the last verse) that she is now standing on a road (of life) telling people (or shining a light) and still hasn't discovered that you can't buy your way through everything.

To be a rock and not to roll is saying that, "despite what you may think" (the rock) "money CAN'T buy everything" (NOT to roll).

You, sir, are sorely mistaken.

It points out how we are able to do great things but are incapable. Along with "And as we wind on down the road, our shadows taller than our soul," it shows how typically, we are simply incapable of doing things because we are scared.

But that's just what I take from it.

Yeah, but they often kind of make a point of it, and if all of it's random, none of it is..... if that makes sense.

Look at the song On A Plain; if it had a point, it wouldn't be as cool.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Kurt Cobain is so pathetic that he can't stand himself. That sounds exactly like all of his other songs...hmm.

Nirvana wouldn't be so bad if all the "anti-mainstreamers" liked it so much.

But my ex-bassist was a massive fan of Nirvana and I didn't like that band at all.

No I got THAT part of it. I meant that it doesnt make sense cause its grammatically incorrect and comes in randomly during the song. The transition into that line is odd

Guess again.
Polly was a song he wrote about a real girl named Polly who was raped and tortured with a blow torch, and eventually killed. Except when he wrote the song, she gets away.
Supposedly (I don't think he ever confirmed this, but he loves to **** with people, so who knows), Rape me is the sequel; the guy who raped Polly gets sent to jail, and raped in prison repeatedly. Irony. Justice. Whatever you want to call it.

But if Kurt Cobain wrote it, it's all a metaphor for his abdominal pain/suicidal thoughts, etc.

If you're just going to stereotype everything he ever did that way, then yes.
If you actually want to take a look at it, then maybe not.
