Alright well, im getting a halfstack, i need the extra wattage for my band. and my old faithful yamaha isnt doing it for me.

So im looking to buy a good halfstack for my band.

We're metal, sound kind of like For Today, Impending Doom, In the midst of lions, August Burns Red (even though i dont really like them that much).

And i was looking for a amp that would give me a similar sound to that.

Im pretty much broke so i need as cheap as i can (800-900$ is the max)

I was thinking the Bugera 333XL but i wanted to get some feedback before i made any decisions.

Im fine with going used

No combos

and i play through my Iceman IC-300.

Thanks.

Dont limit yourself to just half-stacks. You can probably find a good combo, thats cheaper, and it'll be loud enough for gigs/bands.

Try a Peavey 6505/5150 or XXX. The Bugeras are also good, but I've heard about them crapping out alot.

Haha i know you guys will bash me for this.

But im willing to pay the extra few hundred bucks to look cool at gigs and still sound good.

So no combos.

Thanks though.

What's cooler, a guy using a half stack like everyone else, or a guy using a little 60 Watt 1X12 combo Tube Amp and sounding just as good or better???

Sounding just as good or better with smaller less expensive gear = Cool.

well i guess the best way is to go test it out.

Im sure i could find a 5150 at one of my local music stores, even though their discontinued.

I know that the 5150/6505 are THE metal amps, so i guess i cant go wrong with that.

Although ill admit the bugera totally looks way more badass with the sick design and all those extra shiny knobs

Dude... you wont regret getting a 5150. The gain is just absolutely amazing. The cleans, not so much. But trust me, the gain will blow you away. A 5150 is a great amp, even if you dont buy it; you should definitely try it out.

Just a couple of other things to consider in addition to the 6505, some of them with better cleans.

Dude, where do you get XXXs for 350-500?! I normally see them on craigslist 600 for combo, 900-1000 for half-stack.

But yeah, XXX = great amp. Good gain and good cleans.
