I need a metaphor for life in the manner of Langston Hughes's Mother to Son.

Well, son, I'll tell you:
Life for me ain't been no crystal stair.
It's had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor --
Bare.
But all the time
I'se been a-climbin' on,
And reachin' landin's,
And turnin' corners,
And sometimes goin' in the dark
Where there ain't been no light.
So boy, don't you turn back.
Don't you set down on the steps
'Cause you finds it's kinder hard.
Don't you fall now --
For I'se still goin', honey,
I'se still climbin',
And life for me ain't been no crystal stair.

In speed versus emotional playing, i think of an M16 versus an M24. You can have 650 rounds per minute, or one round, one kill. Both should be in your arsenal.

Its a metaphor of sex, the mom is describing her vagina and experimentation to anal sex to her son who is questioning his sexuality. She wants him to know that just because its fun sometimes, anal sex may not be the best choice.

Nice one. I think I'll actually use that one.

When swimming your way through the river of life, use the breast stroke. It helps clear the turds from your path.

I hated that poem
in fact, I hated "interpreting" anything for a grade, it makes me feel lazy because I just do what the required work is instead of thinking what it means to me (and often it means absolutely nothing to me, as in this poem).

Imagist poetry FTW!
Lord Gold feeds from your orifices and he wants to see you sweat.
Lord Gold probes you publicly and makes your pussy wet.
Now say his name.....

Good luck finding a metaphor for life that isn't trite

In the meantime, I suggest this metaphor for secksing a virgin.
