I finally finished building my custom rhoads but the action of the strings is too high. Anyone know how I can fix this? I think I may need a really low action ToM but I'm unsure. The neck is already glued in (Jackson DK2-T) and everything is already installed. The neck is even with the body though so I don't know what to do now. I'm really upset with this. All that works seems for nothing now.

Did you use a neck angle? if not you're gonna need to recess it, if so, try the thumb screws

You're gonna want to recess it then. You route into the body the shape of the bridge (a little bigger so it fits). I'm not sure how high your action is now, so I can't really tell you how deep to go. You should do it so that there's plenty of room for adjustment, but I can't really tell you the exact depth.
EDIT: What blindsagacity said.

Hey, I've reccessed it as much as I can and it's still high. Anyone know of any low action ToM? I might have to replace the whole damn thing with a floyd rose just to get it level. I knew I was gonna fvck up my build.

try adjusting the thumbscrews, or if the problem is on the nut end you could try to file the nut down.

btw, I saw your V in the gallery, friken awesome!

Thumbscrews are all the way down, and what do you mean by that? And thanks man

the slots in the nut, you could take a file to them to lower them. If that doesn't work all I can say is recess it more.

I filed my strat knockoff's nut with the strings themselves, but it really only worked with the wound ones, and it took FOREVER.

Your neck must be angled then right? Mine's not. That's my fvck up.
#22
If the bridge is correctly recessed, one should have no need for a neck angle.

Stop beating yourself up and drop the bridge into the body a little!

Chill your terran marine vagina and realize that whatever the problem is, you can fix it.

The bushings are completely flush with the body, and I'm not beating myself up I'm just kinda disappointed. I've waited all summer for this and now I can't play it.

Yes, this is why you route a hole and recess the mother****er.
