My local music store has no amps that I like, so before I trundle off someone that's 2-3 hours away in search of better amps, I want to have a basic idea of what I might be looking for.

Basically.. I play metal and most things related to metal. I will very soon have a guitar with EMGs in. The amp will be for practice. Preferably 15 watt. Ideally I don't want to go over £200, but £250 is my absolute max.

Any suggestions?

Thx4urhelpz.

so if yur gonna be having EMGs, and that means yur gonna want a tube amp. But the budget you gave will NOT get you a good all tube amp. save up more you must (yoda is awesome!!)
Save Gibson

^Do it, if you want Gibson to stop with the poor QC and terrible new guitars...

okay, thanks, I will save up more, shouldn't take too long. what would I have to extend my budget to if I were to get a smaller wattage tube amp? and what would you recommend?

I'm not sure currency conversion rates, I'm quoting US dollars.

Peavey Classic 30 - $600 New, probably $400 Used
Peavey ValveKing - $400 New, probably $250 Used

The ValveKing is probably better for metal.
But the Classic 30 is better overall. But You can just use a distortion pedal and you'd be good to go for metal.

2001 Ernie Ball Music Man Axis Super Sport
2001 MIM Standard Strat
Peavey Classic 30 112 Combo.

Fender Super Champ XD = 15W Tube/Solid combo amp = 300 USD$ (£183.37) = AWESOME.

Use the leftover £s to buy a good pedal for metal.
I can't wait till my fro is full grown.

I've heard good things about the valveking. $400 comes to £250, and $250 comes to £150.

I will ask to try them in whichever shop I go to. Thanks =]
