Just saw this on facebook. He and his brothers had the right idea political philosophy wise, surprising coming from a wealthy family.

nasty irony is that his death complicates even more the passage of the Health Insurance Reform that he championed.

In the 1969 Chappaquiddick incident, the car Kennedy was driving ran off a bridge and plunged into water, resulting in the death of passenger Mary Jo Kopechne. Kennedy pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident and was given a suspended sentence; however, doubts about his account of the accident significantly damaged his chances of ever becoming President of the United States

Oh, so he didn't actually directly kill her. It was more a negligence sort of thing. Very admirable.

he neglected it to save his own ass (he was running for pres, and couldn't be reported driving drunk)

so this way, someone died and he still lost the nomination

what a waste

regardless of the incident (which is despicable) Ted was a brilliant politician and has championed or supported many of the charities that we all take for granted. At this juncture its stupid to remember him for anything other than the obvious good he gave to this world.

Rest in peace.

She would have been dead if she hadn't escaped the car in any case. There's no way the authorities would have arrived on time to save her. Not that it rationalizes his actions, just an observation

Erm...who?

Long time US Senator, brother of former President John Kennedy and assassinated presidential candidate Robert Kennedy. Part of what is arguably the most important family in the history of American politics.
