I'd like a cheap $100-200 recording device.

All that I want to do is record my guitar onto my computer, that's it.

I'd like something that would record through my amp, like what I play through my amp is recorded straight into my computer.

I'd also like for it to come with some relatively simple recording software, something that I could use to mix songs together. (For example, I record rhythm and then a solo, then mesh them on top of each other.)

I recently purchased This

and can't get it to work for the life of me, so I'd like to try something more simple, or rather something which sole purpose is for recording and not crazy effects and what not.

Thanks alot!

dude, $100-200?
I've been using my Rock Band mic for recording stuff (one with a USB cable)
it surprisingly has really good quality

and i use audacity which is free and good and simple for mixing parts and stuff like that.

Thanks for the replies!

Heh, funny thing is I got a free copy of reaper when I purchased my amp and totally forgot about it.

I'd really like a semi-good quality recording device and the one you linked seems to have problems with Vista x64, which is what I use.

Try the USB M audio interfaces. I'm pretty sure they're cheaper than most.
