Anytime i click on a search result on google it redirects to me some random page. It can be anythin from some stupid advertisment to someones youtube channel. Everything apart form the thing i want to come up. Also it opens in a new tab which i dont want either.

Iv just been copy and pasting the link into the url bar but sometimes it doesnt show the full URL and i cant do this. Avast says there are no viruses on my computer and everything is fine apart from this one thing

Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

yea it is! the problem is, is that if google isnt working right, you're never gonna find a solution to the problem because...well, you cant google it. whoever invented the virus that does this is a genius.

and i applaud him

Congratulations, you have a virus!

This is actually the most likely cause for your problem. Some sort of virus/spyware/malware infiltrated your computer and is now redirecting you to shifty internet pages...

Try running a virusscanner, if you don't have one, download AVG Antivirus for free...

Hope this helps!

Why don't you just use a different search engine?

Like soulflyV says, it doesn't hurt to scan twice with 2 different programs. Some programs may overlook some malicious files, and a different program may be able to trace those files anyway, while overlooking other files that the first program doesn't. Optimal coverage, you see?

I've never heard of this virus. =S
What would it be called?
Google.pissoff.trojan.W33?

Yeah, it sounds like your browser. Opera used to do that to me a while ago.

EDIT: ^ Wrong, actually. You didn't take PC performance into the equation. One mean of virus protection is crazily damaging to your performance and page file. (I know Avast! takes up a **** load) and topped with AVG, they sometimes scan each other's files and find the trojans / viruses moved to the chest.
Two real-time virus scanners is definatly a bad Idea.

But maybe a one hit wonder like the program called "Trojan Remover" thats not real time and comes with a 20 day evalutation period...

Sounds like your browser got hijacked. Happened to me once. I used a program called "hijackthis" and haven't had a problem since.

If you would have given us this information before, we could have easily figured out your problem.
It IS your browser. Possibly a firefox update or you got hijacked.
