I can get both for the same price, brand new.

Which should I get? I play mostly verities of metal on a Buger 333XL. I'll be getting a Rivera KTRE soon though so that will be my main amp for a while.

Thoughts?

Vader uses Eminence speakers, and Engl uses Vintage 30's. It's all about preference.

Aren't ENGLs loaded with Vintage 60s?

Anyway, I'd probably go with the Vader, however nice it would be to have something with "ENGL" on it sitting in my house

Yeah the ENGL E212S has v60's whereas the Vader has v30s.

The Vader definitely doesn't have V30s; it's rated at 240 watts.

You'd really have to test out both cabs with your setup cranked to hear a big difference between the two choices. I would imagine the ENGL cab is alot more mid heavy whereas the Vader pumps out the lows. It's really more about personal preference though so check them out.

If you can't play on them then I'd go with the Vader just due to customer service, looks, and wattage handling.

Engl Standard 2x12 should be V60's. If they make a Pro 2x12 it will be V30's. (like the 4x12's)

Both cabs will sound great, but I think Vaders cabs are kinda crappy looking actually.
The Engl will pair up nicely with the KTRE. Especially if the Rivera has the grey steel grill like the Engl.

Vader, it will provide great metal tone with the Bugera.

Vader. V30's get a little flabby if bass wise even with decent cab construction(see recto cabs for this). The eminence speakers in the vader can handle bass responses like a champ, staying nice and tight

V30's do not get "flabby" bass wise. Just because the oversized Recto cab is boomy, doesn't mean the speakers are at fault. The Trad size Recto has extremely tight bass response. So does the Orange PPC, Randall XL, ENGL Pro, etc.

SO much fail in this thread....

Vintage 30's are 60 watt speakers......

Every ENGL 2x12 I can find comes with V30's....

Vader's use custom designed Eminence Legend speakers for their cabs

These custom legend speakers are rated at 120W each.

I've bought, sold, and traded more gear than I care to admit.

not as tight as vaders. I had the trad size recto, it got a little flabby compared to the vader

No.

Engl Standard cabs come with V60s, which are NOT V30s. The Pro series cabs come with V30s and sound much better IMO.

If the Engl cab you're looking at is the Standard, then I'd go with the Vader, if it's the Pro, I'd probably get the Engl
