Hello, I come to you guys with a question regarding a Mesa Boogie amp my local guitar store is selling. After some research I discovered it is a Son of Boogie, made in the 80s and kept in great condition. Here's a picture of what it looks like. The only difference is that the one in the store has a black grill cloth:

Now, they're selling it for $700 dollars without a cab. Am I getting ripped off, or is that a killer deal? Also, should I fork over the extra money for a Mesa cab if I get it, or save some money and buy a cheaper cab from Avatar? Thanks in advance guys!

The Son of Boogie was Mesa's first Mark I reissue, so yes, that is actually a killer deal, but don't expect to play Necrophagist with it. It'll do thrash metal on its own, at least...

I was planning on using it for pretty much everything except metal, actually.

Do you think an Avatar 112 cabinet will go good with it?

Dependent upon the speakers, but Avatar stuff in general is pretty high quality.

If you go 1X12, get a Mesa Thiele and swap the speaker for an EVM. It'll sound way better than with a V30.
