I'm going to be picking up an overdrive pedal, hopefully by this weekend.

It's going to be used for my Vox Valvetronix AD100VTH. I'm looking to give it just a bit more gain and "oomph" as some of the higher gain patches leave a bit to be desired.

That said, I really don't want to color the tone too much as I'm 100% satisfied with the tone of the amp.

I was thinking of getting a Boss SD-1 (Super Overdrive) but wanted to know what other people are currently using.

Any suggestions?

More information:

The pedal is going to be used on top of the current distortion coming from the amp.

dont get the boss. Depending on how much you want to spend, you could either go with a Ibanez TS808 or similar clone or an Fulltone OCD. Just dont get the boss. The OCD will probably colour the least.

The Boss isn't bad, but if you search on Ebay (and a couple of makers make great great clones of it) you can find an older model, the OD-1, which is just about the perfect overdrive pedal. It doesn't colour your tone like the midhump in a Tubescreamer or clone (like the OCD).

Is there any black people on UG?
I don't think a lot of black people play guitar anymore.

+1 and modded its even better...

Im finally departing with my modded one and it has been with me through it all. Stayed next to $300 OD's and still held its own. But I need to kick my OD habit and sell it
