I'm transcribing Andy McKee's Rylynn onto bass, and I've gotten into the main bit, with the string hitting every half bar. There's one little bit in there that should be simple, but my brain just isn't clicking it for some reason. It should, because there's much harder bits in there... GAH.

I've been trying to learn "Straws pulled at Random" from meshuggah for a while now, but some of those parts are just so--- wait, what was that about your nut?

Well, technically it could be done, but only in the same way that you could change a cat into a hamburger. It's an unpleasant process, and nobody is happy with the result.

I have that sort of problem. (utterly failing to get what should be a simple part.) I always just play the bit through really slowly 10-20 times right before I go to bed. Wake up, take a piss, and TA-DA!

Anyway, In My Own Greed by Spawn of Possession. So far I just have the acoustic intro down and I am already raging.

Edit: Wait, what about your nut?

Nevermore - The River Dragon Has Come

Awesome song

The solo is so fun to play, but I've got to tighten it up still.

the solos in the redone version of into the pit(Testament) and a moment of clarity(Death). both are kicking my butt and seem to be way above my speed. the most difficult solos i can play are disposable heroes(Metallica) and souls of black(Testament)

overture 1928 - dream theater.

at the moment its the descending sextuplets near the start that are giving me trouble. i could leave out the first note, which would make it a much easier pattern, but i wanna do it properly.
wasnt raging until i took up my metronome. bastard with his perfect rhythm

the worst bit is i can play all the later parts, which sould like they should be more difficult, so its just this passage thats harshing my mellow.

hopefully it will work better tomorrow...
