Heya all.

Haven't been here in a loooonnng time. A good year or so. Figured it was time to show one or two of the pieces I've been working on as of late.

The one named in the title is the first and only song on my profile. It's called Isla's Jig and it's an ode to my niece Isla who was born just a couple of months ago. She smiles whenever she hears it so hopefully that's some sort of sign!

Anyways, I'm just looking for some basic opinions/feedback on the song. Haven't done this in a while, so feel free to be as harsh as you like with your criticism, as I probably need it.

In background, I'm a self-taught guitarist, 18 years old, been playing for 6 years. I have very very limited knowledge of music theory, but from what people say I have a good feel for melody. Looking forward to hearing what you think!
Thanks I'll crit yours if you crit mine

I quite like this. I definitely didn't expect it. Fantastic playing. I also like the way you went about chaining melodies to each other, and the key changes were quite nice, and didn't take away from the overall flow of the song. What are you recording with? It sounds crisp as hell. I don't really have anything to say when it comes to corrections or things like that, so I'll just agree with the other poster. 5/5

Thanks very much for your feedback guys! Very much appreciated.. It's too late right now to crit yours but I promise I will in the next couple of days.

I recorded this at a friends place (he's got a great home setup). Used a AKG C 414 B-XLS Condenser mic for the whole thing. I had the EXTREME privilege of playing a Taylor with solid koa top back and sides, and brand new elixir strings put on that day. Dont know if this happens to you guys but that guitar just brought out some really cool embellishments in my playing.. it sounded far too nice. Looked far too nice as well.. although maybe not quite to the point of the 4000$ price tag.
