Over here in America, we don't get to learn so much in school about British subcultures, but upon watching the film adaptation of the Who's Quadrophenia, I've become interested in these fellows, especially their way of life during their mid-sixties prime.

Your thoughts, anyone?

I think all mods should die.

They have been giving us rockers a hard time!

I liked Tommy better.

From reading the wiki page sounds like mod's are in every era being the Chav's or Trendy or Scene whatever the **** you want to call them people of today.
I will stand by all this drinking if it helps me through these days,
It takes a long time just to get this all straight.

That's another reason I'm interested in them. They stir up controversy, and I like that.

Yeah, I expected a rant against the mods on here.

Yeah, I put the angry face in my post icon for that reason. Gets me more views.

Aw, sweet man. I went to see the musical of Quadrophenia.

But it was so confusing. They had four guys playing one character (five if you count this weird flashback to his childhood). Plus, I missed the first fifteen minutes where this was explained and just thought it was four different characters. I thought the musical was about a mod gang.

I'm a folkie. Most of the bands I follow, I don't even know who they are. Go figure.

I'm actualy old enough to remember the mods 'v' rockers thing when they were all fighting on the beaches. I actualy witnessed it for myself at Scarborough as a child.

From what I remember, the rockers pretty much kicked ass.

Also, a mod stepped on my sandcastle.... bastards.

Always nice to see someone taking a genuine interest in mod, not just being an indie kid who pretends to be mod, becuase "Liam Gallagher has a haircut like Paul Weller and Paul Weller iz teh greatest mod EVAR!1!!1!!11!"

Important things you need to know;
No parkas. The faux pas every newbie makes. Unless you plan on going on a long scooter journey in the rain, stick to a harrington jacket or similar. Fred Perry is not the only thing you can wear. The polo shirts are good, but stick to the ones made in England or Italy. Some of the stuff they make is very... "un-mod" for want of a better phrase. Ugly stuff.
Paul Weller's hair as it is today is not mod. Scruffy and greasy. He had good hair in the 70s though
If you don't like the 60s motown/soul sound then mod is probably not the best thing to get into.
Mods are elitist peacocks.
If you're really interested i'll PM you a link to a forum + site that has all you need to know about mod stuff.

I think the whole Britpop movement was mod stuff. Also, look up Paul Weller. He is considered the 'Modfather".
