I've noticed they're adding drum tabs onto UG. What is missing is a good place to find ukulele tabs. They are several okay sites, but none of them compare to UG.

Piano Tabs would be awesome too.

How do none of them compare to UG if UG does not have Ukulele tabs at all? That's pretty weak competition.

pointless posts^^

well ukulele, then why dont they add mandolin tabs? or sitar? well they all seem pretty guitar related that if you can read guitar tabs, then you can transpose them on your other instruments, disregarding its number of strings.
An idea that IMO will surely not go past the idea state

You are an idiot TS.
Wow. Not cool.
TS is making a suggestion. Even if it doesn't fit, he voiced it in a reasonable manner.
Your reply was not reasonable.

Please don't get the impression that since UG is now accepting drum tabs that it will be easy to make a case for other types of tabs.

There isn't enough call for ukulele tabs to add a section for them.
Nor enough for mandolin tabs.
Nor Balalaika tabs.

I doubt this could attract enough new users to make it worth the effort and clutter.

There has already been a discussion about this. Not so much about piano in particular, but having a type of "tab" using "staff notation", which would be necessary when scribing for piano and other instruments. If you would like to continue on that issue, go to the existing thread. Sheet music

Yeah, I know and I apologize BUT...

Everyone seems to think that now that UG has drum tabs they'll add sheet music, drum forum, piano tabs, ukulele tabs.

What's next, dulcimer tabs?

Actually, this is the first suggestion I've seen like that. Since when is one guy 'everyone?'

On topic: It's been said. Not nearly enough demand for it.

This is somewhat better than just insulting his intelligence, but I still disagree with it. Even if it was true, or more accurately, there are some people who think this, you shouldn't cop an attitude toward this guy because of what others think. If his reasoning is wrong, tell him why it's wrong. If it has been suggested before, point to it.

the reason there are not as many good uke sites has nothing to do with UG- it has everything, however, to do with the amount of uke players out there, and how the instrument is usually played. guitar is often melodic in nature, ukelele, though it can and is used for melodies, is far more of a rhythmic instrument, a backing for a voice.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

well i actually got a ukulele and relaize the chords are IDENTICAL to guitar (but not chord shapes obviously, but the chords for a song are the same) only tabs are slightly different, but no one plays tabs much on ukulele, all chords.

Hi UG'ers, Well UG has broken the rule book. Just look for 'Ukulele Chords' and viola the bulk of my TAB's are now spruiking that headline. It's a surprise to me but I'll gladly support anything that assists the growing arsenal of Uke players, too. (Where are you George ...when we need you?) :-R

It's very annoying and completely pointless, all they are doing is copying and pasting the tab and relabelling it a uke tab. In a few of my chord tabs I list the chords at the top, or they're in a different tuning, so I have diagrams, and all that comes up in a ukulele tab when it's not relevant. Wouldn't a ukulele player just use common sense and try out the regular chords tab instead of having a 'ukulele version' shoved in their face?

I couldn't agree more! It does not make any sense to automatically copy existing guitar tabs and re-label them "ukulele". When I submit a tab, I take care to include tips/voicings that are useful for players of for 6-stringed instruments (like ... yes, the guitar for example). Now this very same tab is headed under "ukulele". Uke-players do not need that. They - just like guitarists - need tabs that are written with their specific instrument in mind, so they can actually profit from it.

All in all, I think it's a great idea to implement the possibility to submit ukulele tabs. But adding existing guitar tabs as ukulele tabs is misleading and does not help uke players.

BTW: What if ukulele players looking for a good uke-tab come across my perfectly good re-labeled guitar tab (that is now supposedly a ukulele tab) which isn't any good as a ukulele tab? Do I have to take the bad ratings for something that I never intended to be a ukulele tab?
