I have an oral-b toothbrush which runs at 30,000 pulsations per minute.

There's a newer model out, the Professional Care 8900, which boasts 40,000 pulsations per minute.

Is there any way of overclocking my old one, so I can clean my teeth at 40k without having to buy a new toothbrush?

Thanks

Hook it up to 5 car batteries.

On a serious note, I don't think there is, unless you really took it apart.

There may be a resistor that limits the output if you remove that and solder a connection wihout it in between it may go faster. But it's there for a reason, so your tootbrush may become a weapon.

Now can someone explain me why I responded in a serious way to this?

A V8 might just give you the power you're looking for if you can get it connected up properly, though I hear those Oral B's use a lot of power.
The plan was to drink until the pain over.
But what's worse, the pain or the hangover?

don't electric toothbrushes damage your teeth anyway? Wearing down the enamel you're trying to save from plaque?

take apart the toothbrush and draw a schematic of the insides. if you cannot do this, you have no idea how to overclock it anyways.

I would rather turn a toothbrush into my tornado creating death machine than just overclock it to a usless tooth cleaning apperatus!

i think your thinking of a resistor.

Dammit people, stop asking why. Have you forgotten we're in the middle of a recession?

Like said above, less resistance and more current's needed. We'd also need to know what kinda motor is in there and what its capable of.

make your own oscillator for it using a 555 or Schmidt something. You could make it really awesome and make a PWM so it's always slowing down and speeding up for ultra sensation in your mouth (or where ever you choose to use your toothbrush)

EDIT: you could even be futuristic and go 50kHz.. of course there could be consequences, you could cause thousands of tiny black holes to form in the LHC your mouth, ultimately causing the end of the universe as we know it.

Why overclock right off the bat? The real bottleneck might not even be your toothbrush. Have you tried upgrading your toothpaste?

Just because we actually enjoy having a full set of white teeth past 60, does not mean it's an abnormal obsession.

TS: Why stop at 40k? Overclock it more. 60k. 80. 100k, even?

Woah woah, we're talking about oscillation here below the 75k mark, not ultrasonic frequencies LOL
