Does fender make it's guitar in U.S.A.?

i live in pakistan. i was about to buy an electric guitar. i have my eyes on a fender stratocaster. now the thing i am confused about is that, the guy who owns the shop tells me that he has stratocaster's made in china or mexico. not america. when i asked him if it just him or that others sell guitars from USA he said that strats are now only made in china or mexico. they are original, but mexican or chinese. he says that even in USA the mexican made or chinese made strats are available. is this true?

Fender strats are made in USA and Mexico. Not sure about China, you stand the chance of buying a poor copy if you get one made there.

So this MIM is around 20 grand in pakistan (rupees). that's exactly 250 dollars. what do you say?, is it a good price?

New or Used?

New = That's a GREAT Deal.. New they go for about $500 here in the US.

Used = That's about a fair deal.

Sounds good to me. MIM's are known to vary in quality more than MIA's, but if you get a good one then it's a good deal.

Fender makes most of their guitars in USA, but they also make the cheaper line (but still good, I own one and I'm very happy with it) in Mexico. There are also a few models that are made in Japan, but that's the minority. They make no guitars in China, I can tell you for sure: then we may be talking about Squier (owned by Fender, but NOT Fender).

Id get it. MIM does not mean bad. Of course its no USA made. But i think for the price a good MIM is hard to beat.

Yes, Fender does make guitars in America.
They also make guitars in Mexico and Japan as well.
However, the one that is made is China is a fender copy or a Squier by Fender, which is a subgrade Fender made of cheaper materials.

Wait, make sure its a fender.
There are squiers made in mexico, which although tons better than the chinese ones, are not worth 250.
If its a geniune fender, jump on that.

The headstock should be enough. It should have the fender logo plain as day. If it says SQUIRE by Fender, do not pay 250 for it. if its a squire you might not want to get it, i dont know what is availiable over there? Im assuming not much?
#15
Yeah, make sure it's a Fender first, then check if it's real, tell tale signs of it being fake are the Fender logo not looking right, headstock shapes, serial numbers etc.
