I don't know why maybe because I'm Russian I like cold. That's the reason I'm asking if someone could help me to find riffs or even songs that would sound like that. I think it could be something slow, medieval, northern, something that puts you asleep, something that literally freezes you.

Da, I know it sounds weird "cold music" that's what I'm searching for...

Well, this could go in any recommendation thread, or just the Bands and Artists forums... Or it could go here. Oh well.

You MIGHT like black metal, but I highly doubt it. You can't just jump into that stuff.

But of course, I'll be recommending you a lot of metal anyway...

Wintersun - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9Ul5XJINXU

Windir - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQ3m2CrB_54 (Valfar, who used to be their lead singer, died in a snowstorm. Cold? I think so.)

Ulver - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejqxp9ttHxE
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97XFWOqU7X4

Moonsorrow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fcZVnXDf38 (This is part 1)

Nobuo Uematsu - Buried in the Snow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQITL6ZhCfM (yep, just that one song. Nice and calm.)

Ephel Duath - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQwhImwwres (pretty weird, but not necessarily "cold")

Enslaved - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX-cfYLYpfI

Emperor - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s61vUKggL-Q
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JA48LBQtYDo

Burzum - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd-1W7HqiyU (Pretty much that entire album is pretty cold...)

And last, but certainly not least:

Agalloch.

Here's my suggestions...

Nobuo Uematsu - Salt Flats - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0JU76yuY58

Bjork - Aurora (crap version here) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SII78SMbIvk

The Cure - Twilight Garden - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VhTRsfIgf4

Helios - Dragonfly Across an Ancient City - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yifKmpyMoU

New Order - Avalanche - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPRw-jOhFA

Noah and the Whale - First Days of Spring - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szbB-vLVnoQ&feature=related

Twilight Sad - Invisible Boy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiODUPPNJyI

All these remind me of the cold.

Hope this helps!

Thanx a lot this was really helpful, I guess Wintersun - Death and the Healing is exactly what I was looking for.
By the way I found another great piece by Metallica - The call of Ktulu that also is "cold" in my opinion.

And also I guess I've forgotten to say that I'm looking for music that I actually could play on guitar .
