before you even diagnose it you should string it up with new strings if its been a while. really old strings (more than 4 or 6 months if its used often) can throw off an otherwise perfectly set up guitar. ive seen intonation off by half a half-step at the twelfth fret and buzz all over the place caused by nothing but nasty year old strings and new strings make it all go away. also make sure you have the guage of string that the guitar was last set up for on it. those double locking systems go to crap if you go up or down one size without adjusting it. if that doesnt fix it check the neck relief, first fret clearance, and string height and make sure theyre all in spec. oh and no matter what there will always be a little buzz. and a guitar with extremely low action that plays fine plugged in could sound buzzy and broken when played acoustically so make sure to factor that in if you like really low action.
