Hey guys, I'm lookin to buy my first electric guitar+Amp and I've been doin my homework and I've come up with this for my budget (200 usd):

Ibanez RG120 ~ 99 used
Peavey Vypyr 15w ~ 99 new

I figured splitting the cost 50/50 would make sense, but what do you guys think? Should i get a starter pack instead or are there other better choicse? also is musicgoround a reputable company?

That seems like a great setup to start out on, and no, don't get a starter pack. I did, i regret it. The amps that come in those are ****.

Personally I prefer Roland Cubes to Vypyr's but both are good amps

what are you wanting to play? maybe look at getting a Squier if you're not just wanting to play just metal

NO starter pack.

And what you have picked out should be a good start. Good luck man

As for musicgoround... I've heard of it, but that's about it.

I'll play just about anything, so what would be a good all-around amp?

well the Roland Cube's are very versatile, have a look at the Micro-Cube or the Cube-15

I can get an almost spot-on RATM sound, then can switch to a really nice blues tone, just try a few amps out

The Peavey Vypyr is really good IMO. I played it in a store, actually prefered it to my Roland Cube. There is also the Vox Valvetronix, but if you ever think that you might get into heavier music then it is not for you. Trust me on that one.

Well, the Vypyr and the Roland cube are both good like said above, but it's whichever one you want. I prefer the cube myself, but I believe the vypyr is cheaper? Not sure

The Vypyr just has lots of nice options IMO. The roland lacks effects and stuff like that, that I find decent at least. Sounds like a good setup. Jesus, Few years back I payed the same for a Peavey Backstage

One last thing, I'll be bringing this to my dorm, so i have to kno, do most amps have headphone jacks? Id like to practice whenever i want without pissing everyone off within 2 floors of me.

what ever you do DONT get a line six spider

Whatever you do, DON'T listen to this person.

They're absolutely fine amplifiers, sure, they're not a CHOOB TOAN HEVEN!
But, it's a first practice amplifier.
Go away.
