I'm sure you probably get tonnes of 'which amp do I buy!?' kind of threads here, but I really need some help picking a new amp because i'm very, very confused as to what to get!

I play in a band called Little Alice and we're getting to the stage where we're playing bigger gigs and I need something with a little more power than what I have at the moment, which is a Line 6 Flextone 3. I like the Flextone, it's good but I don't really feel like it's 'the one', you know? I don't want this to sound like a plug for my band, because I know this isn't the place to do it, but please check out our myspace page and listen to my playing so that you can get an idea of what kind of guitarist I am!

I've been looking at a LOT of different amps, but I need something that's going to have a responsive distortion channel, can get heavyyy (but not completely balls out death metal heavy) if I push it, and cleans up nicely, so you know, there's a little bit of 'bite' but it's not overdriven too much.

I was looking at this:

http://www.thomann.de/gb/marshall_dsl100_mc412a_bp_set.htm

Which looks like a great deal to me.

And I've also heard good things about Vox, particuarly this model:

http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/74359

Billy Lunn from The Subways uses something very similar and he has a great tone! I'm not sure what kind of speaker cab I'd pair it up with though.

I was looking at Orange rockerverb stacks too, but they're wayyyyy too pricey than what I can afford!

I'm mainly looking for some kind of stack, but I mean, if someone can suggest a really amazing combo to me then i'll check it out. I was actually looking at a Fender deluxe hotrod, but i'm not sure if it'd have enough power for me?

Thanks a lot guys! Sorry about the essay, thanks in advance for any help

I'd say, tentatively, up to about £1,500, but probably not QUITE that much.

I'd be totally willing to go used, I love old gear.

And my nearest major city is Leeds, but I live pretty equidistant between there and Manchester, so it's all good!

Thanks for the quick response!

If the bigger spiders suck, why do people recommend bigger vypyrs?

Plus with that budget, why would he get a vypyr.

ENGL Screamer would be good for you.

The ENGL looks quite good, any ideas what speaker cab I'd pair the head up with? I'm very new to the whole stack thing so excuse my ignorance! :P

And you're sure its not TOOO metallic right? I'm very worried about sounding too metallic, haha!

Thanks for all the quick responses guys!
