Not if I ever want gain at a reasonable volume, i.e. a small show

That's why mankind invented load boxes to save our precious ears.

Edit: $700 isn't THAT insane, but it's definitely a good deal.

If you shop around a bit you can find JMP/JCM amps around that price fairly often.

Mine was $600.

I love vintage Marshalls. Doesn't get much better than that, HNAD

Also, I don't get why some people don't like that it has a master volume in it... What's so bad about a master volume?
#27
700 bucks.

I don't normally say this anymore but... I hate you.

Happy NAD...

Yes, but JMP > JCM.

Unless you get an 800 and mod it to original '71 JMP specs...

Those things cost $700 used in the 70s. You stole that thing if it hasn't been modded other than the master. If I could find these amps unmodded for $600, I'd quit my job & become a vintage Marshall dealer !
I used to have one of those, too. Sold it in the mid 80s because it was too loud when I moved into an apartment. Go figure.

I say re-amp that puppy & see what happens!

Screw load boxes. More money, less tone. It's a PPIMV and it sounds great It's a player's amp, not a collector's piece, and no harm was done to the chassis so I could revert it with little to no damage done if I really cared.

And yeah, this thing sounds amazingly beastly. Holy god.

While reamping is the best option, a good master volume isn't the end of the world, truth be told, if anyone has tried the Lar/Mar MV, it works quite well, is easy to install and you get no tone loss until you start going below half on the master dial. I'm sticking one on my JTM45 when I get the chance. I mean... $8 worth of components and some elbow grease?
#38
that thing must be so ****ing loud, it must sound awesome though, good find, and happy rockin on it haha, also, umm... goodbye to your ears =), after playing that for a few hours cranked that might be the only thing you'll ever hear haha, nice find

Yeah, until his third post or so I didn't know it was a PPIMV. I figured some hack installed a regular Master and was like

They only sound great loud anyways.
