surprise my eyes and show me
the magic left behind closed doors
and let me be your one and only
so we can rob the rooms of all their floors

hijack my hands and hold me
let my ego get lost in the night
summon the spell to slow me
and to stop my nose trickling with blood

did you put a penny in my soul
as the carnival passed by
right after my head had turned the corner

surprise my eyes and show me
what it was to once be tentative
crack the whip... slowly
summon me and I shall come equipped

did you throw a fiver to my open fist
as the carnival passed by
right after my head had crossed the bridge

a rather vicious and peculiar
way to tell the tale
supposed to leave you suitably moved

did you put a penny in my soul
as the carnival passed by
right after my head had turned the corner
did you put a penny in my soul
as the carnival passed by
right after my head had turned the corner
did you put....

Last line, second stanza, was strange to lose the rhyme and shake up the flow like that. Maybe it'd work sung, but it was a bit jarring to read. Only real complaint.
