I played it. I must not have had it dialed in right, I was not a fan. I even played it through a Bogner cab. Still not a fan.

The 5150 III is $2000, not $3000.

It supposedly nails Van Halen's sound alot better than the Peavey 5150/6505, but I haven't played one.

PM riffhog. He owned one and liked it while he had it.

I wanted one at one point but the QC made me second guess it so personally, I would say it is not worth it new. The warranty is transferable however FYI.

Why? Do you need a $3,000 half stack?

Guitar Center had some NIB for $999. At the time, I had no clue about amps so I didn't buy it

wtf is a NIB?

and no I dont need a $3000 half stack, I'll start with a $3000 guitar first.

NIB = new in box.

A $3000 half stack would be a much better investment than a $3000 guitar.

^eh.....I don't like how the pups are so close to the neck

There was a guy on TGP that went thru 4 of them.

They are made in Mexico evidently, by Fender.

Kaymen got one and got one of the bad ones and reported it here. Search bar.

For the best tingle, use Original Source mint. That shit feels amazing on your balls.

^Even better for early VH tones. Those Mojaves are incredible. EJ's even got a few now. The 5150III has a very Soldano-ish quality to it. It's a solid amp if you get a good one. But they sell for like $1200 used, there's no way I'd go new for one. I liked it like I like Soldanos, with a 4X12 loaded with with Celestion 65s.
