Alnico 5 is a magnet type in pickups, depending on how good he is at handwound pickups will determine if its good or bad.

They're not bad You can EASILY find much better pickups though. They're pretty versatile for cheaper pickups though.

Alnico5 magnets are pretty common in pickups. All you can do is try em just dont expect a whole lot. Its hard to even buy the parts and wire to make a pickup for that price, well for most of us not buying em in bulk like SD etc.
