basically is it any good.

I don't think Peavey has ever made a "bad" instrument. It'll be fine.

I played a Milestone BXP for a few months before I got my Yammie. It's a great starter bass, basically a cheap (but reliable!) Jazz clone but with different body.

my first bass ever was a peavey milestone II and it was AWESOME
it had a really nice solid tone to it and the neck and action were both very comfortable.
