I want to do lay out some chords and put something over it without any recording software and anything like that. Is there anything cheap I can get that will get the job done?

just get audacity and a microphone. audacity unicode beta is free.

record your chords on one like, then click record again and a new line will open, and you can record your lead.

you can use a tape recorder for the chords, and then just play over that if you're not planning on recording whatever you're playing over the chords

Isn't that like 200 bucks? I'm on a budget seeing as I'm 14.

Unfortunately, loop pedals are not cheap.....

Only other choice is as other said, use computer software or a plain old tape recorder and microphone.

Anything worth having, is worth spending some $$$ for...

I also have the RC-2, and I'll say this...It is hands down the COOLEST piece of gear (besides the guitar and amp) I have ever purchased.
