My city has a large Chinese population and the language and script have always facinated me.

So I'm taking classes in the fall semester in Mandarin Chinese, but I was hoping that some UG'ers could help me with some resources, such as Chinese learning sites, Chinese newspapers and the like.

Any help?

Anyway, good luck. I've heard it's extremely difficult.

This is where a website named 'Google' comes in useful. Under the websites name on the home page, there is a small searchbar, type in "Learn Mandarin", and BOOM!, millions of potential help sites.

I linked this thread to a friend of mine who speaks mandarin. He should be posting momentarily.

I don't use Google for political and moral reasons, and there's no point searching through all those sites anyway, they're all 'pay to use'.

Not necessarily have you actually tried instead of burning Google. I find everything I need when I'm thorough with my searching.

Learn Japanese instead. It's so kawaii.

Do you live in Cerritos? There's a lot of Chinese people there.

Oh you want to read Chinese script?

Well first of all there's www.baidu.com which is the Chinese equivalent of Google.

http://www.sina.com/
http://www.sohu.com/
http://www.163.com/
http://www.tudou.com/
http://www.youku.com/

They are all really popular websites people in China look at. The last two are like the Chinese equivalent of YouTube.

Lol at immoral reasons.

Living in a western country is immoral by itself relative to all of humanity.

Political trouble occurs, because one wants more political power then another, and use stuff as an excuse.

I don't see the harm in you or me searching something up on google.

Don't you guys know it was Google's fault the Lockerbie Bomber was freed? It's also the reason North Korea is using Nuclear Weapons.

No..

The reason North Korea is using nuclear weapons is because someone from North korea wants to use nuclear weapons.

What possible good explanation does one have to blame google for using nuclear weapons.

People used nuclear weapons before google, so how is it their fault.
