Ok, so I recently put together a Strat with a maple neck and ash body I got off of eBay. From the beginning, I decided on HSH configuration with a cherry stain, pearloid pickguard, and gold hardware. The look has turned out almost exactly how I wanted with the stain being just a little darker than I imagined. I put a Wilkinson tremolo bridge and Schaller locking tuners on it. The handwound pickups are a Blackback humbucker neck, 62 SG single middle, and a Silverback humbucker bridge and are on the way, courtesy of our very own CorduroyEW. Pics will be up very soon.

I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far;
for a might-have-been has never been, but a has was once an are."

This is a picture of the hardware just sitting in the body before anything had been done.

Close up on bridge.

We then began with the installation of the bridge. This is one of the holes we had to drill.

Completed the installation.

And the stain goes on.

And after a ton of clear coats.

I love the look of the back.

Guitar fully assembled. The badgers are intrigued...

Great looking grain, but I wish you had stayed away from the Minwax stain

Are you going to shine it up? Or is it more of a satin look? Looks great regardless!

LOOKS AWSOME, hey dude do you know if i can change my 6 pointed tremolo for a wilkinson like yours?

you'll be able to aslong as you fill the current holes and you might have to check your scale length and adjust to fit correctly

What is up with that Grade "A" GM Auto Lube? That can looks like its 40 years old. P.S. Sweet guitar, almost as sexy as mine.

Because it probably is. You would know; it IS your Granddad's. And that is not possible. I sabotaged your guitar when we put it together to suck.

Edit: @ la bamba: I do want to shine it up when I get a chance. What would you recommend to do it with?

That's probably just because commercial products aren't concerned with fancy labels for advertising. I work in a car dealership, in the parts and service warehouse, and all our brand new products look like they came out of 1955 !

Also, I'd like to say that guitar looks pretty awesome man! If I were you, I would tung oil the stain to give it great protection while keeping that satin look.

Ah, so you are the one who sabotaged my clear coat and made it rub off under my arm.

Ok, so I'll most likely wait to shine it up until the pickups are in which will hopefully be by the end of next week. And then more pics and sound clips.

Ok, so the pickups just came in today. I'm heading back home this weekend from college so I'll install them tomorrow and try to have pics up soon after.

Nice color and I love the Gold hardware,,But it looks like from the pics you should have sanded it down a little better before you put the stain on.
