So it is time for some more reccomendations for pickups for a SG i have, i am thinking of going with EMG's as i have a Blackout in another guitar and i want active pickups.

My question is what combination do i go for? I like to play lead but i want a nice clean sound too so i was thinking 85 or 81 with 60 in the neck. I am also thinking of going for the new X series as they are only a little bit more exspensive.

Also would there be room for the battery in the SG?

Thanks in advance.

I have a Peavey valveking 112 and I'm not looking to change my amp.

I was thinking of the 60 in the neck although I am not really too sure on the difference between the 81 and 85?

60 has better cleans, so I'd go for the 81/60. There is enough room in your sg.

81 equal better highs, brighter sounding. 85 = Thicker sounding. Some people like th e85 in the bridge, I haven't trie dit before.

I got that guitar with EMG81s in it. There's room in the control cavity for the battery.

85s are warmer/rounder sounding, 81s are tighter and cooler sounding.
