I am currently borrowing a guitar from a friend and notice this with the neck:

There's a huge gap between the neck and body. Is this normal? I just want to make sure before putting some strings on.

Its not bolted down properly unscrew it and put it back on properly if it doesn't fit tell your friend

EDIT: 1st time i looked at it i thought it was on an angle that is fine...

that happened to my guitar. either the neck isn't screwed on right or the tension is wrong

So, should I unscrew the neck and try to set it back in or just go ahead and string it?

try taking neck off first but if it goes back on the same just string it up

It may be ok, what's more important is that the neck is seated properly in the neck pocket. But I have seen neck/body combos where the overhang was like that.

It's also possible that at some point the neck was shimmed up to change the neck angle in relation to the bridge (for example, an attempt to lower the action when the bridge wouldn't go any lower), so if you do pull the neck off keep an eye out for shims that may fall out.
