This is my first time opening up anything to do with electronics in a guitar, and I took off some tape around my pickup, to find the tiny wires (expected) but what i didn't expect to see was that only one, single strand of coil was touching the wire leading to the pickup selection switch, is this normal? Should there be more touching that wire?

(This is my cheap first guitar, pawned off between probably about 3 people before me)
that's pretty normal. scary isn't it? for the squier i redid, i bought some seymour duncan SSL-1 vintage staggered pick-ups, and while not very high-end, they certainly don't suck. they had the same thing, though, with tiny, incredibly fragile looking wires leading the ground and output

sir, i would like to inform you that you are now my favorite UGer. Not only did you use the word y'all, which is native to my homeland, but you correctly punctuated it using the apostrophe.
