Hey, if I'm playing a 5 string bass, would it be possible to play if i removed the B string, moved the other 4 strings up (so that the E is now where the B should be and the A where the E is and etc.) and place a C string where the G would normally be, and still have the bass sound good? Or would the pickups of a 5 string or the position of the tuners have an effect on it?

Umm, I'm not really sure but just reading it, wouldn't the string be too small for the next string up's space in the nut? It might not make a difference, but still you might want to look into it.

I'm pretty sure jazz bassists do this quite alot (or at least used to). Saw somewhere it's called tenor tunning. Only thing I can think of is that you might need to make a few adjustments to the trussrod or something

My bass teacher does it on his 5 string Wick, it's awesome for playing chords.
All I want is for everyone to go to hell...
