There probably is a thread on this, but I searched and found nothing.

We should make a thread devoted to watts, what they're good for as far as gig area and loudness, SS and Tube.

So, I ask you, with a 75 Watt SS amp, would I be able to do gigs without miccing? Thanks.

I write songs.

Most small gigs, yes, but at a large gig even the biggest amps will be miced if you want to be heard properly.

I'd say you at least need 60 watts for gigging if you're using a solidstate, and 30 if you're using a tube amp.

Any gig requiring more will have a PA system to mic your amp.

People play clubs with 15 watt amps all the time, most recently the tiny terror.
