Gilmour wasn't "better" than Syd Barrett, but he has to be one of the best replacements of all time

The three members of Between The Buried And Me that joined on Alaska are better than the previous members I think, especially Dan Briggs.

Also Bruce Dickinson.

I disagree, I find Paul Di'Anno's voice sounds much better than Dickinson's, although I will admit that Bruce is a better singer in terms of technique/range.

Sure he was.

Eric Carr had different make-up, a completely different style and very different hair.

I would like to add that for David Lee Roth, Jason Becker was not as good as Steve Vai.

i think a lot of that has to do with the state of his band. they were very good in the late 80s

Anette Olzon is better than Tarja (epic flameshield up in case there are old school Nightwish fans here )

The other way around, I think Heath was worse than Taiji in X, and Elias is worse than Jani in Sonata Arctica.

James LaBrie > Charlie Dominici
Jordan Rudess > Kevin Moore (In terms of technical ability)
Chris Broderick > Glen Drover and probably Friedman too.
Rob Trujillo > Jason Newsted
Greg McPherson > Joe Morgan (InMe)

Anette Olzon < Tarja Turunen
Kirk Hammett < Dave Mustaine. Probably.

Brian Bell > Jason Cropper (Weezer)

He made it past the demoes and 6 albums, what a badass.

Everything started blowing ass when Matt left, though. ;-;

even though rudess is better in a classical sense i believe moore and sherinian were more creative and tasteful. broderick is not better than friedman.

Syd Barrett > Gilmour. The only albums by Pink Floyd I really like.
sometimes I see us in a cymbal splash or in the sound of a car crash

as far as black flag goes:

chavo > keith morris

keith is the **** when it comes to the circle jerks. but black flag? more chavo's thing. i'll even take chavo over rollins honestly.

Back in the 70's I decided to take all the frets off Jaco's Bass thinking he would play worse. Man did that backfire.

Yeh, it's not like I don't like him, just overall I prefer Paul. He just fits better into the overall Japanese wackiness of Mr. Big. Check out Kotzen and Sheehan playing in this Deep Purple cover though, pretty intense.
