Well I was about to go and clean/restring my guitar, when i noticed how reliced some of the knobs were getting . I was excited so i decided to show some off. This was a pure white Jem just to let you know and now the knobs/humbuckers are starting to yellow up. Also a few nicks and dents I actually like! haha

Now, is there anything else i can do to speed it up a little?

Share you're relics too!

If you live in somewhere really hot and sunny then leave your parts out in the sun.

Looks awesome BTW

dont try and speed it up, natures course will get the job done right

addendum: also - the gold hardware on my strat has been fading/tarnishing for some time now, and some of the pickguard screws are showing wear and tear.

you could try the searchbar for how to do a relic. that should speed it up considerably.

if those pics are from 2007 then it should be a bit more relic'd now in 09, right?

Aww thanks, chap

Anyway, get some 0000 grit steel wool and lightly rub your finish with it, not to the point of the wood showing through, just to the point of the gloss being removed. Then go back, add extra wear to places like the elbow contour, back of the guitar, etc.

You can also use a chisel or flat head screw driver to LIGHTLY nick the finish so it looks like it's starting to chip. Use real relic guitars for reference, and remember that it's best to be conservative, working little by little.

Metal parts can be given a rusted/heavily worn look by putting the metal parts in a bucket, then placing a bowl of muriatic acid in the bucket as well, and then covering up the bucket. check on the progress every 30-45 minutes or so, this type of aging is kind of unpredictable, but the results can be very rewarding. Also, be careful with muriatic acid seeing as it's pretty much just watered down hydrochloric acid and that **** can really mess you up.

+1 to letting time relic your guitar.

i hate when people go all out to make there week old guitar look like its 20 years old...

i preffer guitars that are relic'd, because they have been used for a long time, that way, there relic'd in YOUR way, not like brian may, or EVH...

I'd like to see more...you know, zoomed out pictures

My strat's pickup covers actually progress from yellow to white...It looks kind of ugly on first sight (yellow on white?) but it's good.
I have a ponytail fetish.
..And a labcoat fetish. SCIENCE!
