All the most famous people play all these Gibsons, Fenders, PRS, etc. That cost thousands of dollars. Are there any famous players that just play some like $500 guitar or something?

And no I don't mean as a gimmick for one song or something like that, I mean like regularly.

Jerry Horton of Papa Roach has played Schecter Standard models since the late 90s, the same guitar he played you could pick up at your local schecter dealer for like 600 dollars

Slash recorded AFD on an Epiphone Les Paul IIRC.

Trent Reznor used to play some $200 guitars, dunno about these days, but, back in '05, he used cheap ones.

yeah, Jack White. He plays an Airline guitar he bought in a pawn shop I beleive. They are terribly cheap, but he loved the trashy sound he can get out of it. I think they are remaking them now for really pricey, though.

TS, stop trying to justify continued usage of your beginner guitar if you need the internet to prove that it's worth keeping. If you have doubts over it, just get a new one.

/assumption

Saying that, there are some great cheap guitars. I got an amazing LP Jr. for £10.

No I have a $700 Ibanez ART300 that I'm quite happy with. It has the sound and feel I love plus it looks cool, that's really all I care about.

Tom Morello has that one guitar that was like $90 from a pawn shop in Canada. He just put new pickups in and it was crunchy as hell

Kurt Cobain used crappy guitars
Some players (Eric Clapton, EVH, The Boss) threw together some mutt guitars that wouldn't be worth a lot if they weren't played by their respective artists

It seems as if you just want a famous guitarists guitar, so that you can say you have it. Correct me if I am wrong though.

Also why copy someone elses tone and sound? (I never understood that)
Buy a guitar that you like and that sounds good to you, dont just buy it because ZOMG SLASH has the same one.

A good/decent guitarist can make any guitar sound good and a horrible guitarist will make any guitar sound like ****. So focus on your ability to play first and foremost.

Guitarist for Mindless Self Indulgence was playing a Strat Squier on stage in the artwork from their "Alienating Our Audience" album.

Also, this dude named Kurt Cobain used to play Japanese or Korean Fenders. Not sure if they were Squiers or not, or if he actually recorded with them. I think the "Polly" guitar was a no-name pawn shop guitar. Same with Billy Corgan's "Mayonaise" guitar. Corgan plays a Shecter now.

He uses a Fender, and sells squiers to little kids wanting to be him.
He's really gone downhill. Shame.

MCR used Epiphone Elitists live, and a selection of Epiphones in the studio, including a G-400

Ritchie Kotzen had to play a fly-in gig, but his guitar got lost at the airport and didn't arrive, so he had to go to the store and buy a replacement. The closest he found to his custom shop strat was a japanese Squier.

A lot of Indie players use Epiphone Casinos and Sheratons, as well as many Fender Teles, which aren't too expensive.

James Hetfield's favourite Flying V wasn't a Gibson, but a japanese copy of one. It had a bolt-on neck. He recorded "Ride the Lightning" with it, and now plays a replica of it, made by ESP.
