I didn't like it at all. The cleans were ok, but the OD was really lacking and they watered down the tone in favor of more gain.

Don't play one expecting a louder or better AC30. It's a different beast.

I'm not looking for volume - rather lack of it! I was wondering how loud it got. I am looking for an EL34 powered amp, but I LOVE Vox tone, so I thought it might be worth a look.

Vox AC15 then maybe? AC4, perhaps? if you're looking for a lack of volume I dont know how you arrived at the AC50 lol

Where do you play? I find the AC30 more than loud enough for all my uses.

The AC30 and AC50 will basically be the same in terms of perceived loudness.

The difference will be in clean channel headroom.

AC4 and AC30 have too little gain for my tastes - but I love the vintage rock tone + the level control and master volume seems like it would keep the volume resonable thru a 112
