Okay, I'm starting to look into some new equipment.
At the moment, I have an Epiphone G400 and a Line 6 Spider III 15W.

I'm looking to move up. My main genres are Thrash, Heavy, Power and Death Metal.
For my new guitar, I'm looking into a ESP LTD EX-401. You may suggest other guitars, but I think EMG pickups are a must.

As far as amps go, I have no idea. I don't even know if I want a cab + head or a combo.

Budget is about 1500 euro's.

For 1500 Euros, i would suggest something high end, like an ENGL or a Mesa Rectifier model.
Though it's best if you head to a guitar store and test amps out and decided on that.

Check these out:
ENGL Sovereign
ENGL Savage
ENGL Powerball/Fireball
Mesa Recto (single, dual, triple)
Mesa Mark series

What are you playing to?

A high end tube amp like a mesa or engl WILL be overkill just playing in your room even if it is a combo.

Mesa Boogie DC5
Xotic BB Preamp, Ts9, BBE GS, Boss DD-6

You are forgetting that ENGL amps sound very good at low volumes

Its not really whether it will sound good at low volumes its just that its overkill.

Its like buying a Ferrari just to turn use the radio...

The 1500 euro's is for BOTH guitar and amp.
I've heard lots of good stuff from Engl, but the cheapest I can find (in 2 seconds) is 745. And then I still need a cab and a guitar.
I think the LTD EX-401 is about 800-850, so that leaves about 650 for the amp.
However, if you think another guitar would be better, feel free to post

Also, if you suggest an amp without enough gain, you also have to include a distortion pedal, because I'll need lots of it to play my genres.

PS: I get the prices from http://www.musicstore.com

Look at used Mesa Boogie Calibers. You can go 100 watts if you want with the dc10, or the dc5 (what i have), or the dc .5 which is something like 15 or 20 watts.

contrary to what people tell you these amps CAN do metal without a pedal, those who say otherwise don't know how mesa eq's work.

722 Euros for the Thunder Combo, plus you can get a good guitar with the rest of the money
