So what do you guys think has made hardcore regress to where it is today? I mean, how did we go from The Misfits (w/ Danzig) and Bad Brains to the shallow stuff of today like Senses Fail and My Chemical Romance?

Taking themselves too seriously? Riding the scene train? Wanting to make metal but don't know how? What do you think?

I think "taking themselves too seriously" plagues the music industry as a whole.

Hardcore still exists in a very similar form as what was around in the 80's, you're just not looking hard enough. Sure there are a ton of bands masquerading as hardcore bands, this forum is a testament to that, but there are thousands of DIY bands floating around in the underground hardcore scene. You just won't find that scene by visiting Hot Topic, following tours put on by energy drinks, or watching MTV.

Please don't respond to this thread, most of you will either say something stupid or reiterate my remark.

Huh? What?
My style is impetuous.
My defense is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious.
I want your heart.
I want to eat your children.
