If you're going to spend 300 dollars then don't waste it on a solid state..

You can't get a Tube let alone a good tube amp for 300 dollars, Solid States get alot of crap when many are Very good.

I would recomend a Roland Cube, I've never tried the Vox, but I have been told that the Vyper sounds very similar to the Cube.

VT is better for mid-gain. Vypyr is better for high-gain.

And I think you are looking for a good mid-gain sound.

Maybe the Vypyr would be more versatile, you should better try both in a shop.
