Today I ordered a complete tube replacement set from for my 1965 Ampeg G-12 Gemini I. I paid $120 for the following set:

COMPLETE TUBE SET FOR YOU VINTAGE AMPEG GEMINI I: 3pc. 12AX7 (JJ/TESLA), 1pc. 7199 (SOVTEK), 1 6CG7 (EH), 2pc. 7591A (EH).

The amp still has all of the original tubes, but I'm getting some clicking in both the reverb & tremolo channels, so one or more of the 12AX7 probably needs to be replaced.

My amp is a true closet find with very little original playing time under its belt, but it seems to be missing some of the chime that I've read about in HC user reviews. What can I expect from this new tube set?

have a tech check it over, it may need a cap job and should be biased. after that with new tubes? eargasms...

The Gemini I is self-biasing and a tech has already replaced some of the caps, but only in the power section. I have a feeling that all of the caps need to be looked at.

I'm also planning to replace the 2-pronged "Plug of Death" with a properly grounded 3-pronger.
