Between now and november, i have a few jobs and im 15, so i have until next year to save up for a car (for $4,500, its a jeep wrangler) and my jobs between now and then will get me $5,100 for i have $600 left for guitar equitment, and i want a better amp. I play a lot of Eddie Van Halen, and other classic rock, but i also play some reggae and metal. I am in 2 bands right now and we aren't gigging quite yet but we are trying to find some gigs to do, so it will need to be loud enough for gigging. And i want it to be tube, not SS, im done with those, after trying tubes lately, i don't think i could settle for less. Obviously for $600 im not gonna get something really good but what would be the best for the price? I am probably not gonna go used but i might, im not sure yet and i don't care if its a combo or half stack. Thanks in advance!

Spider Valve or used Vetta would be best. Maybe if you can get a used Carvin Legacy I?

this is what I plan to get... it looks incredible
if you dont want the half they make it in a combo as well

I tried that amp out and was very impressed. However, I simply prefer the interface of the Spider Valve. Also, mods are more readily available for the SV, and it can achieve a wider range of tones effectively IMO. Both are good options, but I just think that the SV is the better amp for the better price.

the 6505's cleans are less than pristine.

Yeah, so I have read. I think it should be ok with my neck single and roll back the volume a bit. That Vyper looks pretty good too, but I like simple circuits better.

Bugera V55 halfstack

I'm not a fan of the tube vypers. Not true tube IMO. Sounds SS still
The Peavey doesn't have that great cleans.

The V55 fits under your budget and is a great amp. Check it out.

The Valveking's got some nice punchy cleans at a pretty decent volume. Haven't cranked it on clean though.

Was talking about the 6505. The Valvekng is good, but I still think the Bugera V55 is the best for the OP's needs.

Eddie Van Halen and metal = 5150
It can do classic rock if you EQ'd right, and I have no clue about reggae. They can be had for $450 used, I really don't see why you wouldn't go for that.

I was under the impression it wasn't really a metal amp?

Of course depends on what the OP means with metal.

Bugera 1960.

Though honestly, a used Spider Valve or Vetta will suit you better, you probably just haven't played good SS amps if you're dismissing them.
