do you need the hardware to open Pro Tools M-Powered? My cousin has the program and she is trying to listen to some raw tracks she was sent. She can't even open the program to listen to the tracks, so I'm wondering do you actually NEED the interface/hardware to be able to just open the software on your computer?

Yes. You need the M-Audio device plugged in to use it. A pain I know.

With pedals you can throw your guitar down for an impromptu pedal drone solo, whereas if you did that on a rack it would just look like you were programming your washing machine.

i knew that for M-powered pro tools you needed an M-audio interface but i didn't know you HAD to use the hardware even if you wanted to open the software without recording anything. thanks guys
